Inside out and Upside Down

One of the things I most enjoy about being a Christian singer and songwriter is, sharing my music live with people, young and old. I love any opportunity to present what I call a worship concert, an informal mix of songs and stories, Bible readings and prayers. The huge focus of these presentations is always the Gospel, the story of God’s unconditional love for all humanity. However I don’t avoid the reality that sits at the back of many minds: “Sure, God loves me, but why then are there so many times when life seems to flip me upside down and turn me inside out? Where is God at those times?”

This song reassures us that, when things are going crazy and we’re knocked off our feet, God remains totally faithful in his promise to stand by us.  His mighty and loving hands are always stretched out to set us on our feet again.

Luke 15:1-31, Luke 19:10, 1 John 4:19, John 3:16, Matt 13:45-46, Gen 3:8-9, Ps 50:15, Ps 46:1, 2 Cor 1:8-10, Psalm 138:7

I’m feeling inside out, upside down,

I’m spinning round in circles, twisting round and round,

Feeling really dizzy and my feet can’t touch the ground.

I’m feeling upside down, inside out,

Losing all my confidence, I’m full of crazy doubt.

I’m feeling so bad I’m ready to scream and shout.

Whoah, whoah, what’s the matter with me?

I’m not very happy, got the miseries.

All I know is I wanna be free

To be the me that I’m meant to be.

Jesus! He’s reaching out his mighty hand.

Jesus! He’ll set me on my feet again.

Jesus! He’s reaching out his loving hand.

Jesus! He’ll set me on my feet again, set me on my feet again.
