Lyrics & Devotional Notes
Live in the Light
While walking alone with friends down a city laneway during a bright sunny day most people feel quite at ease. While walking alone down the same poorly lit laneway on a dark night many of us feel much less relaxed and some even experience some fear and even panic. A gloomy and cold winter’s day can lay us low while a bright and sunny day can lighten our mood and bring a smile to our face.
It’s remarkable what darkness can do to threaten us and drag us down. Equally it’s amazing what bright light can do to lift us up.
Satan has often been called the prince of darkness. Sin and the evil things of the world are generally seen as things of darkness. Death is commonly seen as darkness.
In stark and brilliant contrast is God, the God of Light and Jesus His son, the light of the world, sent to destroy the power of Satan and the darkness of sin and death. Through him we can leave behind all fear, live in the warmth of His light and let His light and love shine out to those around us.
John 8:12, Matt 14:16, John 1:1-9, 1 John 1:5-7, Colossians 1:13, Acts 26:18, Matt 5:14-16, Eph 3:20, Eph 2:10
Chorus
Live in the light, live in the light,
Live in the light of Jesus’ love.
Live in the light, live in the light,
Live in the light of love.
Repeat
God sent down His love for us and Jesus was His name;
The holy Son of the greatest One.
The World would never be the same.
He is the Way, the Truth, the Life
So take Him by the hand
And follow Him, He’ll lead you on
All the way to the promised land.
Follow Him, He’ll lead you on
All the way to the promised land,
All the way to the promised land.
Chorus
He is the Light of the world.
Follow Him and you’ll never walk in darkness.
He is the light of the world.
Follow Him, the Light of Life.
Repeat
With the mighty love of God in us, so deep and strong and true,
And with the Holy Spirit’s power
There’s so much we can do.
We are special people in God’s special loving plan.
Let’s share His love in every way
With everyone we can,
Let’s share His love in every way
With everyone we can,
With everyone we can.
Chorus
