Love the Lord

“Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus’ answer to the question is quite striking: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.”(Mark 12:30)  Boy, that is quite a request! Can anyone actually do that? God knows that we can’t, but that doesn’t mean that, in response to His great love for us, we don’t make that our main aim in life. And we know that God will always forgive us for our failings.

This song gives us some very practical ways in which we can ‘love the Lord’. “Love Him with your nose?” How can you do that? Savour the wonderful aroma of a roast dinner or the smell of rain on the dry and dusty ground and thank the good Lord for your wonderful nose. Paul sums it up well in 1 Cor 10:31. ‘Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all to the glory of God.’

Refrain

Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind.

Love the Lord with all your strength.

Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind.

Love the Lord with all you’ve got.

Refrain

Love the Lord in the morning, love the Lord at night,

Love the Lord in the middle of the day and in the evening moonlight.

Love the Lord with everything you’ve got.

Love him with your fingers, love him with your toes,

Love him with your eyes and ears, love him with your nose.

Love the Lord with everything you’ve got.

Love the Lord with everything.

Refrain

Love him with your talents, love him with your time

Love him with your actions, let him see you shine.

Love the Lord with everything you’ve got.

Love him with your body, love him with your mind

Not just every now and then, love him all the time.

Love the Lord with everything you’ve got.

Love the Lord with everything.

Refrain X2
